Who to Watch
Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick Evan Gardner picked up his first shutout of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 win against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The 18-year-old netminder collected back-to-back wins against the Chiefs and Warriors last weekend, stopping 40-of-41 shots between both victories. The 6-foot-2 netminder is 3-1-1-0 on the year with a .907 save percentage and a 2.79 goals-against average. Gardner was drafted in the second round (60th overall) by the Blue Jackets at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
19-year-old forward Rowan Calvert has points in seven straight contests. The Moose Jaw, SK native has six goals, four on the powerplay, and three assists in that span. Calvert scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year in the first period against Regina to tie the game 1-1. The 5-foot-11 winger leads the team in game-winning goals with three.
20-year-old sniper Brandon Lisowsky scored the overtime winner Tuesday against Regina for his first goal of the year. The 5-foot-9 winger has a goal and an assist in three games this season. Lisowsky was away at Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies training camps in September, missing the Blades first six games.
