Blades nab draft pick from Americans for goaltender Cunningham
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades have acquired a 2025 eighth-round pick from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for 2005-born goaltender Logan Cunningham.
“Logan did everything we asked of him since coming in as a free agent training camp invite,” said Blades general manager, Colin Priestner, “He helped secure two big points for us against a divisional rival, and we’re thrilled he has an opportunity with another WHL organization this season.”
The Sherwood Park, AB native cracked the Blades opening night roster after being invited to training camp at the end of August. Cunningham won his single regular season appearance on October 15 against the Regina Pats at home, stopping 27-of-30 shots in a 4-3 overtime victory. The 19-year-old backstop has 41 career WHL games across four seasons with the Victoria Royals, Edmonton Oil Kings, and Blades. Cunningham’s 6-22-2-0 in his career with a 4.82 goals-against average (GAA) and a .864 save percentage (SV%).
The Blades want to thank Logan for his contributions to the organization and wish him well south of the border.
