Blades’ Harvey, Hoetmer named to Hockey Canada’s U17 World Challenge staff
Saskatoon, SK – Saskatoon Blades Goaltender Coach Jeff Harvey and Mental Performance Coach Joshua Hoetmer have been named to Hockey Canada’s staff for the upcoming 2025 U17 World Challenge.
Harvey, a St. Albert, AB native, will represent Team Canada Red at the upcoming challenge. It’s the second year in a row the former Everett Silvertips netminder will represent Canada as a goaltending consultant. A Smoky Lake, AB native, Hoetmer will work for Team Canada at U17s for the fifth time in his career (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2025) as a mental performance consultant.
The 2025 U17 World Challenge is set for November 2-8 at Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro, N.S.
All 44 players named to Canada Red and White have been drafted by Canadian Hockey League (CHL) teams, including the 19 from the Western Hockey League (WHL), 17 from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and eight from the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

The 2025 U17 World Challenge begins November 2, with Canada Red taking on Finland at 12:30pm MT and Canada White facing off against Sweden at 4:30pm MT. Teams will play two preliminary round games before the medal round, which concludes November 8 with medal games. The event will also feature pre-tournament games in Truro, Amherst, and Wolfville, on October 31 at 4:30pm MT.
