Blades drop preseason opener 4-1 against Raiders
Prince Albert, SK – The Saskatoon Blades dropped their preseason opener in Prince Albert 4-1 on Wednesday against the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Blades’ lineup consisted of mainly 2007, 2008 and 2009-born prospects, along with second-year forward William James. 2007-born forward Colten Worthington scored the lone goal for the Blue and Gold.
16-year-old netminder Ryley Budd had a busy night between the pipes, stopping 33-of-37 shots. The reigning Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Goalie of the Month played in one preseason game last year for the Blades and made 28 saves in a 2-1 loss.
The Raiders padded their lead in the second period by two with goals from forwards Ty Meuiner and Ben Harvey.
Saskatoon had several good chances in the third period to tie the game but couldn’t find a way to bury one into the net.

The Blades embark to Brandon on Friday for a preseason game against the Wheat Kings at Westoba Place.
