Blades alumnus Nicholas Andrusiak wins Canterra Seeds Cup with Melfort Mustangs
Saskatoon, SK – Saskatoon Blades alumnus Nicholas Andrusiak helped the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) Melfort Mustangs capture their second consecutive Canterra Seeds Cup.
Melfort defeated the Weyburn Red Wings in the championship series in five games and advanced to the 2025 Centennial Cup National Junior A Championship in Calgary, AB. The national tournament begins Thursday, May 8.
A Tisdale, SK native, Andrusiak finished the SJHL playoffs with nine points (2G, 7A) in ten games, the third-most points by a defenceman across the league. The 2004-born defenceman played 30 games for the Blue and Gold during the 2023-24 Western Hockey League (WHL) season after the Blades acquired him via trade on Dec. 12, 2023 from the Red Deer Rebels. Andrusiak dished five helpers throughout the regular season with Saskatoon, adding three more in 13 playoff games during the team’s run to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final.
