Kaching attention ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft
Lightning McQueen may have popularized the catchphrase “Ka-chow!” in Disney Pixar’s “Cars,” but Saskatoon Blades defenceman Jack Kachkowski embodies it everyday.
The 2007-born blueliner arrived in the Bridge City on Jan. 6, 2025. Kachkowski was acquried by Saskatoon via trade alongside teammate Hayden Harsanyi, and five Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospect Draft picks from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for Nashville Predators prospect Tanner Molendyk, and forward Misha Volotovskii. The 6-foot defender notched his first point with the Blue and Gold on February 8, 2025 at SaskTel Centre in a 5-3 victory over the Regina Pats.
Kachkowski recorded three goals and two assists in 26 games with the Blades last season. In 63 games overall in his sophomore year, the St. Albert, AB native finished with three goals and ten assists between the Blades and Tigers.
The right-handed shot ranked 224th overall amongst North American skaters in January on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings list ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles, CA. Round 1 of the NHL Entry is Friday, June 27 at 5:00pm MT. Rounds 2-7 are the following day beginning at 10:00am MT.
