2025 WHL Playoffs: Clinching Scenarios – Saturday, March 8
The postseason just isn’t the same without the Blades.
Saskatoon can claim the second-last berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien on Saturday night.
The Saskatoon Blades can clinch a playoff berth with:
- A Saskatoon win or overtime/shootout loss versus Prince Albert; or
- A Red Deer loss of any kind versus Swift Current
Calgary Flames prospect Hunter Laing’s two-goal night powered the Blades to a 3-2 win over the rival Raiders in Prince Albert on Friday night.
Today, the East Division clash moves to Saskatoon for a 7:00 p.m. ST clash.
Saskatoon (32-21-3-4) is just three points behind Prince Albert (34-21-5-1) with a game in hand and a shot at seizing the East Division lead and a top seed in the Eastern Conference in the home stretch of the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Swift Current Broncos (32-26-1-1) and Red Deer Rebels (24-29-5-2) are the only other Eastern Conference teams still in contention for a playoff berth.
The Rebels and Broncos look to shrug off Friday-night losses when puck drops in Red Deer at 7:00 p.m. MST.
