He becomes the 70<sup>th<\/sup> player in Tri-City Americans franchise history to be selected in the NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Vanecek, from Humpolec, Czechia, joined the Americans after being drafted 25<sup>th<\/sup> overall in the 2025 CHL Import Draft. Tri-City selected him following a 2024-25 season where he split his time between Bili Tygri\u2019s U17 and U20 teams in Czechia, posting 12 points (1-11-12) in 21 games with the U17 team and recording four assists in 30 games with the U20 team.<\/p>\n<p>That season he represented Czechia at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, picking up two assists in four games. Prior to the 2025-26 season he played for Czechia again, this time at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup where he had two assists in four games.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arriving in Tri-City, Vanecek\u2019s impact was felt immediately with four points (1-3-4) in five pre-season games, with his goal being an overtime winner in Everett on September 5.<\/p>\n<p>Vanecek scored his first WHL goal in his regular season debut September 20 in Seattle and went on to finish with 35 points (14-21-35) in 59 games. His 14 goals led all WHL rookie defensemen.<\/p>\n<p>He joined Team Czechia for the IIHF World Junior Championship in Minnesota over Christmas and came home with a silver medal.<\/p>\n<p>When the 2025-26 season was over Vanecek represented Czechia again, this time at the World Under-18 Championship in Slovakia. He joined the Americans full time during the 2003-04 season, posting an 8-9-1-0 record with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He also won a silver medal with Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge that year.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004-05, Price continued to establish himself as one of the top young goaltenders in hockey, recording a .920 save percentage and 2.34 goals-against average while appearing in 63 games. He also represented Canada at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship, helping the team earn a silver medal.<\/p>\n<p>His play with the Americans led the Montreal Canadiens to select him with the fifth overall pick in the 2005 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Price saved his best for his final WHL season in 2006-07, when he was named both the WHL and CHL Goaltender of the Year. That season, he posted a 30-13-1 record, 2.45 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.<\/p>\n<p>He finished his Americans career with an 83-74-9-3 record, 2.53 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and 15 shutouts. Price remains first in franchise history in career shutouts, third in wins, tied for second in save percentage and second in goals-against average.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2006-07 season, Price also starred for Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship, backstopping Canada to a gold medal. He was named the tournament\u2019s top goaltender and tournament MVP after going 6-0 with a 1.14 goals-against average and .961 save percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Following Tri-City\u2019s 2007 WHL playoff run, Price began his professional career with the American Hockey League\u2019s Hamilton Bulldogs. At just 19 years old, he took over the starting role in the playoffs and went 15-6 with a 2.06 goals-against average and .936 save percentage, helping lead the Bulldogs to their first Calder Cup championship in franchise history while earning Calder Cup Playoffs MVP honors.<\/p>\n<p>Price began his NHL career with the Canadiens during the 2007-08 season and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team after recording a 24-12-3 record with a 2.56 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.<\/p>\n<p>Over his NHL career, Price became one of the most decorated goaltenders in Montreal Canadiens history. He finished as the franchise leader among goaltenders in games played and wins, while ranking near the top of several major statistical categories.<\/p>\n<p>Price also represented Canada on the international stage, winning Olympic gold in 2014. He was named the tournament\u2019s top goaltender after allowing just three goals, including shutouts over the United States in the semifinal and Sweden in the gold medal game.<\/p>\n<p>His best NHL season came in 2014-15, when he won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL\u2019s top goaltender. Welcome to the Americans\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Champagne, from Brandon, Manitoba, was drafted by the Americans after the 2023-24 season in which he scored 51 points (18-33-51) in 28 games with the U15 Brandon Wheat Kings. He then added an additional 13 points (6-7-13) in 11 playoff games, helping the Wheat Kings win the Manitoba U15 championship.<\/p>\n<p>He then jumped to the U18 Brandon Wheat Kings for 2024-25, scoring 27 points (6-21-27) in 46 games.
