The Americans drafted Gayfer in the seventh round, 147<sup>th<\/sup> overall, in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeacon is a big defensive D, with bite to his game,\u201d said Tory \u201cHis continued improvement and strong showing at our development camp earned him this opportunity, welcome to the Americans\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gayfer, from Kamloops, British Columbia, was drafted by the Americans out of the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U15 program where he scored 17 points (5-12-17) in 36 games during the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n<p>This past year, Gayfer returned home and played alongside fellow Americans defense prospect Carter Bylycia with the U18 Thompson Blazers in the U18 British Columbia league.<\/p>\n<p>In 28 games Gayfer scored twice and added seven assists while racking up 60 penalty minutes. He is a hardworking physical 200-foot player\u201d said Tory, \u201cBringing work ethic, leadership and character to his game, he has earned this opportunity. Welcome to the Americans\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Champagne, from Brandon, Manitoba, was drafted by the Americans after the 2023-24 season in which he scored 51 points (18-33-51) in 28 games with the U15 Brandon Wheat Kings. He then added an additional 13 points (6-7-13) in 11 playoff games, helping the Wheat Kings win the Manitoba U15 championship.<\/p>\n<p>He then jumped to the U18 Brandon Wheat Kings for 2024-25, scoring 27 points (6-21-27) in 46 games. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The game marks the first time since the 2021-22 season that we will play our first game of the year at home, and the first time since 2018-19 that we will open the season by hosting our long-standing rivals. The combine runs from June 1-6.<\/p>\n<p>Vanecek, from Humpolec, Czechia, joined the Americans after being drafted 25<sup>th<\/sup> overall in the 2025 CHL Import Draft. Tri-City selected him following a 2024-25 season where he split his time between Bili Tygri\u2019s U17 and U20 teams in Czechia, posting 12 points (1-11-12) in 21 games with the U17 team and recording four assists in 30 games with the U20 team.<\/p>\n<p>That season he represented Czechia at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, picking up two assists in four games. Prior to the 2025-26 season he played for Czechia again, this time at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup where he had two assists in four games.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arriving in Tri-City, Vanecek\u2019s impact was felt immediately with four points (1-3-4) in five preseason games, with his goal being an overtime winner in Everett on September 5.<\/p>\n<p>Vanecek scored his first WHL goal in his regular-season debut September 20 in Seattle and went on to finish with 35 points (14-21-35) in 59 games. The current agreement expires on May 31st.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoy has done an excellent job directing our scouting staff and managing the WHL Prospects Drafts since 2019,\u201d said Tory. \u201cWhile we are sorry to see him go, he has left our prospect depth chart in great shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Americans\u2019 Majority Owner and Team President, Jon Sortland reacted to Stasiuk\u2019s planned departure as follows: \u201cIt\u2019s been a pleasure to get to know Roy and work alongside him for the last two seasons,\u201d Sortland said. \u201cHis high level of hockey knowledge, and his ability to strategically plan by identifying trends and drawing on his experiences have been beneficial.
