Parker Bell signs with Calgary Flames
KENNEWICK, WA – The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed Tri-City Americans forward Parker Bell to an entry-level contract. He was drafted by the Flames in the 2022 NHL Draft, 155th overall in the fifth round.
Bell, from Campbell River, British Columbia, was drafted by the Americans in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft, 108th overall in the fifth round. After recording seven points (1-6-7) in 61 games over his first two seasons in the WHL, Bell took his game to another level for the 2021-22 season.
Dressing in 64 games that year, Bell exploded offensively with 49 points (18-31-49) to finish second in team scoring. Despite playing in only 55 games in 2022-23, Bell still managed to set career highs across the board offensively last year with 64 points (25-39-64), once again finishing second in team scoring. He then added six points (2-4-6) in six playoff games against the Prince George Cougars.
When the Americans season came to an end Bell joined Calgary’s AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, and appeared in two regular season games, recording one assist.
Bell becomes the first Americans player to sign an NHL contract since Morgan Geekie who signed with the Carolina Hurricanes on May 10, 2018.
