RECAP: Americans (4) – Thunderbirds (1)
The Americans put themselves back in the win column tonight with a 4-1 road victory over the Thunderbirds. Four different scorers found the back of the net for the Ams as Tri-City earned their 14th win of the season.
Jordan Gavin scored on the first power play opportunity of the night, getting the Americans on the board first 6:13 into the game. Gavin, the Americans top scorer, notched his 13th of the season with a quick shot from the left circle. Tri-City led shots 8-7 and held a 1-0 lead through 20 minutes.
Deagan McMillan and Andrew Fan forced a Seattle turnover behind their net to set up Carter MacAdams in the low slot. The newly acquired American shelved a shot with a one-timer giving Tri-City a 2-0 lead early second period. The Ams dominated shots 16-4.
The Americans continued to build on their lead in the third period as McMillan capitalized on a power play off a feed from MacAdams. It was McMillan’s tenth goal of the season. With 6:36 remaining, Lukas Dragicevic added one last goal for Tri-City with long shot from the point. The Seattle Kraken prospect is on a three-game point streak with one goal and three assists over that period.
Thunderbirds left-winger Luca Hauf ruined Lukas Matecha’s bid for a shutout as he scored with 34 seconds remaining.
Tonight’s victory ends Tri-City’s season-high four game losing streak.
