KENNEWICK, WA –Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 2006-born goaltender Eric Kahl to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. Kahl was selected 93rd overall by Tri-City in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
The six-foot-two and 165-pound goaltender hails from Saskatoon, Sask. and currently plays in the SMAAAHL with the U18 Saskatoon Blazers. In 19 games this season Kahl has posted a 14-4-0 record with an .889 save percentage and a 2.65 goals-against average, to go along with three shutouts.
“Eric is very poised, calm and consistent in his play,” said Assistant General Manager and Head Scout Roy Stasiuk. “Goaltending is extremely important for a team’s success. We are confident in Eric’s potential and size, and project him to be a counted-on starter for us in the future.”
Kahl was one of two goaltenders selected by Tri-City in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. Benjamin Polhill, who is seeing double-duty with the CSSHL EDGE U16 and U18 Prep programs, is the other. Both young stoppers are projected to be key WHL goalies in the future.
