Americans sign goaltender Karter Gibson to Scholarship and Development Agreement
Kennewick, WA. – Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory today announced the team has signed 2010-born goaltender Karter Gibson to a Scholarship and Development Agreement. He was drafted by the Americans with the 65th overall pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
“We’re excited to welcome Karter and his family to our organization as he begins preparing for his WHL career,” said Americans general manager Bob Tory.
Gibson, from Airdrie, Alberta, was drafted by the Americans after a sensational 2024-25 season in which he posted a 17-1 record with a 1.30 goals against average, .936 save percentage and six shutouts with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 team.
The 6-foot-4 goaltender joined NAX’s U18 team this past season, going 8-5 with an .883 save percentage and 3.25 goals against average. He helped NAX U18 reach the championship game of the U18 division at the CSSHL Championships, ultimately falling 6-3 to Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna.
While he didn’t get into game action Gibson joined the Americans for the final week of the regular season, serving as Xavier Wendt’s back up for the last two games of the season.
Gibson is the second member of the Americans 2025 draft class to sign with the team, joining first-round pick Ben Oliverio.
