Americans acquire forward Jake Gudelj from Spokane
KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 2005-born forward Jake Gudelj from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 second-round pick.
Gudelj, from Vancouver, British Columbia, was originally drafted by the Chiefs 84th overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. Last season the 6-foot-2 Gudelj set career highs across the board offensively by recording 16 points (8-8-16) while appearing in all 68 games with Spokane.
“From his years entering the WHL Prospects Draft and over the past two years in Spokane, Jake is a player that we have liked for some time.” stated Tory. “He is a big power forward who possesses very good offensive skills. He skates well and competes hard. Jake will add depth and scoring to our lineup.”
By joining the Americans, Gudelj will be reunited with a few former teammates as he skated with Lukas Dragicevic and Carter Savage during the shortened 2020-21 season with Delta Hockey Academy’s U17 team.
Gudelj was named Spokane’s Scholastic Player of the Year for both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
Fans can see Gudelj on the ice for the first time in Americans colors when the team kicks off training camp this weekend at the Toyota Arena.
