Americans acquire 2028 first-round pick from Vancouver for Cash Koch
Kennewick, WA. – Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory today announced the team has acquired a 2028 first-round pick from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for 2007-born forward Cash Koch and a conditional 2029 fifth-round pick.
“This was a difficult trade to make as Cash would have played an integral role on our team this season, both on and off the ice,” said Tory. “Cash and his representatives approached us asking for a trade this offseason, and while we worked hard to convince Cash to stay, they ultimately decided a change of scenery and a fresh start is what was best for Cash. We wish him all the best in Vancouver and know that he will be missed here in Tri-City.”
Koch, from Calgary, was drafted by the Americans 24th overall in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft and skated in 175 games with the Americans, recording 58 points (29-29-58).
The move gives the Americans two first-round picks in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Americans kick off training camp with a rookie camp on Thursday, August 27. Main camp schedule will be released at a later date.
