Time in WHL and U SPORTS helped prepare Mutala to represent Canada in Torino
A five-year career with the WHL’s Tri-City Americans and a standout career with the UNB Thunderbirds has helped prepare Sasha Mutala to represent Canada at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy.
Mutala played 266 games with the Americans from 2016-22 while last season he helped lead UBC to their first ever Canada West title. A Hlinka Gretzky Cup gold medallist in 2018, Mutala was the 140th overall pick by Colorado in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Hockey at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games takes place from Jan. 11-22. The full schedule and results can be found here.
