Reschny excited to use 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup to kickstart NHL Draft season
Victoria’s Cole Reschny is excited to use the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup to kickstart his NHL Draft season.
The Royals forward is one of the top prospects for the 2025 NHL Draft and this week’s tournament in Edmonton is the perfect start to what will be a crucial 12 months.
“It’s cool to ramp it up from now on,” Reschny said. “It’s going to be a long year for me but it’s going to be fun and I’m looking forward to it.”
The 17-year-old was sensational in Canada’s tournament opener Monday where he had five points (2G, 3A) in a 10-0 win over Switzerland. In his rookie season with the Royals in 2023-24, Reschny finished second in goals (21) and points (59).
“Playing this tournament in the middle of summer is pretty cool and it’s going to be helpful for me leading into next season,” Reschny said.
The 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup takes place Aug. 5-10 in Edmonton, AB.
In November, the CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada will take place where the top first-year NHL Draft-eligible prospects from the CHL’s three member leagues will face off against the USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) in a two-game series. More details will be made available soon.
