Coast to Coast with Xavier Villeneuve – CHL USA Prospects Challenge
The Blainville-Boisbriand’s Xavier Villeneuve is going to the CHL USA Prospects Game.
The defenceman was one of three players – alongside Niagara’s Ryan Roobroeck and Vancouver’s Ryan Lin – named to the Team CHL roster last month.
“Obviously it’s an honour,” Xavier said. “I think most players in the CHL want to be there. You want to play against the Americans and prove that the CHL is the best league.”
Villeneuve is the reigning QMJHL defenceman of the year and won gold with Canada this past spring at the U18 World Championships in Texas.
Game 1 of the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge will take place in Calgary on Nov. 25 with Game 2 scheduled a day later in Lethbridge.

About the CHL USA Prospects Challenge
First introduced in 2024, the CHL USA Prospects Challenge is a best-on-best, two-game series showcasing the top NHL Draft-eligible players from the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL competing against the U.S. National Under-18 Team. The 2025 edition in Calgary and Lethbridge will once again highlight many of the premier prospects projected to be selected in the early rounds of the 2026 NHL Draft.
