CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 18
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 18 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With a CHL best 40 wins and .827 winning percentage, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League remain in the top spot for an 11th straight week. The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League’s Moncton Wildcats stand pat at no. 2, a position they have held for 15 of the last 17 weeks. The top three is rounded out by the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts, the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL.
The biggest mover in Week 18 is the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen who move up two spots to a season best no. 7. With a pair of wins last week, the Hitmen – who are 8-1-1 over their last 10 games – own the best winning percentage in the WHL’s Eastern Conference at .690.
The next rankings will be released the week of February 17, following the 19th week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 18
1. London Knights (OHL): As they continue to lead all CHL clubs with 40 victories and a .827 points percentage, the London Knights (40-8-1-0) are the No.1-ranked team in the CHL for an 11th week in a row. The Knights began the week with a 5-3 victory over no. 5 ranked Kitchener on Feb. 4, a victory that secured their spot in the OHL Playoffs. In the process, they became the first CHL club to clinch a playoff spot while it was the second fastest ‘X’ in Knights history (2004-05). London clinched its 40th win of the season Feb. 7 after a 3-1 victory against Peterborough to secure a third straight season with at least 40 wins. The win over the Petes also saw the conclusion of Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan’s impressive 65-game point streak; the last time Cowan was held pointless beforehand was Nov. 24, 2023.

2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): With a 2-1-0 record last week, the QMJHL leading Moncton Wildcats (38-9-20) remain in the no. 2 spot. A 3-2 shootout win over Cape Breton on Feb. 6 was followed by a 6-0 road win against Saint John a day later as Mathis Rousseau stopped all 19 shots he faced. The Wildcats ended the week with a 5-3 loss to Charlottetown on Feb. 8 that snapped a four-game winning streak. Moncton’s 38 wins and .796 winning percentage are the second best in the CHL this season while they are the only QMJHL team to have scored more than 200 goals. Through 18 editions of the CHL Top 10, the Wildcats have been in the top two on 12 occasions.

3. Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL): After a 2-1-0 record on the road last week, the Rimouski Oceanic (35-12-1-2) hold the no. 3 spot for the second straight week. They began the week with a 3-1 road win over Sherbrooke on Feb. 5 but dropped a 4-1 decision to Chicoutimi two days later. They rebounded to beat Quebec 3-2 in a shootout on Feb. 8 as Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko had the winner in the fifth round. The Oceanic’s 35 wins, .730 winning percentage and 189 goals are all the second most in the QMJHL this season.

4. Everett Silvertips (WHL): With a 1-1-0 record last week, the Everett Silvertips (37-9-4-3) remain at the no. 4 spot for a second straight week. The Silvertips earned its WHL leading 37th win Feb. 7 after a 4-1 road win over Kamloops but fell 6-2 in Vancouver a day later. However, the loss wasn’t in vain as in the process the Silvertips became the first WHL team to clinch a spot in the playoffs. The Silvertips’ 230 goals leads all CHL clubs while its 37 wins and .764 winning percentage is third best. Furthermore, Everett’s 81 points are tied with London for the CHL lead.

5. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): For the fourth time in five weeks, the Kitchener Rangers (37-11-3-1) find themselves ranked no. 5 after a 2-1-0 week. A 5-3 loss to London Feb. 4 started the weekend but Jakub Chromiak had the game-winner Feb. 7 as the Rangers beat the Attack 4-3 to become the second OHL club to secure its spot in the postseason. A day later, Kitchener exploded for a season-high nine goals in a 9-1 road win over Niagara. The Rangers’ 37 wins, 78 points and .750 winning percentage are the second most in the OHL while they lead the league with an 84.8 per cent penalty kill.

6. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): Following a 1-0-1 week, the Spokane Chiefs (34-16-1-0) stand firm in the no. 6 spot. Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton exploded for five points (4G, 1A) on Feb. 7 as the Chiefs won 9-1 in Seattle to push its winning streak to four games. However, they collected a point the following night after a 5-4 overtime loss on home ice to Victoria. The Chiefs 34 wins are the second most in the WHL while their .676 winning percentage ranks third. The club also boasts the league’s second best power play with a 29. 1 per cent success rate and own the best penalty kill at 82.2 per cent. Furthermore, their 215 goals are the third most among WHL clubs. The Chiefs’ 34 wins this year are already their most since the 2019-20 season when they won 41 games.

7. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): Following a pair of home wins, the Calgary Hitmen (32-13-3-2) rise two spots to no. 7, their highest ranking of the season. A pair of goals from Oliver Tulk on Feb. 5 powered the Hitmen to a 3-1 win against Prince Albert while on Feb. 7 Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio scored the overtime winner in a 4-3 victory versus Edmonton. Calgary’s .690 winning percentage tops the WHL’s Eastern Conference while its 34 wins are tied for the fourth most in the league, as are its 69 points.

8. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): After they collected a pair of home wins last week, the Windsor Spitfires (36-12-2-1) maintain their spot at no. 8. On Feb. 7 they defeated Sarnia 7-2 while 24 hours later Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas’ 35th goal of the season was the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory over Brantford. Windsor’s 36 wins, .735 winning percentage and 222 goals are all third most in the OHL. While they sit second in the Western Conference, the Spits hold a sizeable lead in the West Division where they are seeking a third Bumbacco Trophy in four years.

9. Barrie Colts (OHL): With two home wins, the Barrie Colts (33-14-2-1) jump up a spot to no. 9 in this week’s rankings. Utah Hockey Club prospect Cole Beaudoin had the game-winner Feb. 4 in a 3-2 win against Kingston while three third period goals steered the Colts to a 4-2 decision over the Soo on Feb. 8. The Colts are owners of a 9-0-1 streak that is the best active streak across the CHL where they’ve averaged 4.20 goals per game. Barrie’s 33 wins and .690 winning percentage are the fourth most in the OHL while they continue to top the Eastern Conference with 69 points.

10. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): In two games, the Medicine Hat Tigers (33-16-3-1) were only able to collect a single point as they fell to the no. 10 spot. They suffered a 5-3 defeat to Swift Current Feb.7 while a day later they secured a point after a 5-4 overtime loss to Prince Albert. The loss to the Broncos saw the Tigers’ 12-0-1 streak come to a close but the club still tops the WHL’s Eastern Conference with 70 points, tied for the second most in the league. Additionally, Medicine Hat’s 225 goals are the second most in the WHL while their .660 winning percentage is tied for third best while their 33 wins trails only Everett and Spokane.
