He collected three assists in a 6-0 win over the Sun County Panthers, two goals and two assists in a 5-0 triumph over the Eastern Ontario Wild and a goal and two helpers in a 4-1 win over TPH Academy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Forward &#8211; Brayden Grima (Toronto Jr. Canadiens)<br \/>\n7 GP, 5 G, 8 A, 13 PTS.<br \/>\nBrayden Grima\u00a0<\/strong>joined Kwajah with 13 points including three separate three-point efforts. He came up big with a goal and assist in JRC&#8217;s 3-2 Semi-Final win over Upper Canada College, collecting an assist on Kade O&#8217;Rourke&#8217;s game-winner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defence &#8211; Kade O&#8217;Rourke (Toronto Jr. Canadiens)<br \/>\n7 GP, 4 G, 6 A, 10 PTS.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Underage standout <strong>Kade O&#8217;Rourke<\/strong> flashed his skill throughout the tournament, putting up points in six different contests. The right-shot blueliner scored a highlight reel game-winner in the Semi-Finals and managed to find the back of the net in three consecutive games.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defence &#8211; Ryan Beaulieu (London Jr. Knights)<br \/>\n6 GP, 5 G, 6 A, 11 PTS.<br \/>\nRyan Beaulieu<\/strong> of the London Jr. Knights led all defencemen with 11 points, registering six consecutive multi-point outings. Beaulieu earned MVP honours for the Jr. Knights in their Quarterfinal and Semi-Final action, and was a constant presence on the ice for the green and gold throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goaltender &#8211; Carter Nash (Detroit HoneyBaked)<br \/>\n5-0, 1.80 GAA, .940 SV%<br \/>\nCarter Nash\u00a0<\/strong>backstopped Detroit HoneyBaked to an OHL Cup title, making 23 saves in Saturday&#8217;s Championship Final. His 46 shots on goal led the tournament and his plus-10 rating was the second-highest.<\/p>\n<p>A product of Livonia, Michigan, Hall had points in all seven OHL Cup contests, with six of those of the multi-point variety. He opened the showcase with a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over the Toronto Marlboros on Tuesday. He was prominent in both of Detroit&#8217;s Thursday wins, collecting two assists in an 8-3 victory over the Markham Majors in the Quarterfinals before chipping in a goal and assist in a 5-3 Semi-Final win over the London Jr. Knights.<\/p>\n<p>Hall was also named to the OHL Cup All-Star Team alongside HoneyBaked teammate\u00a0<strong>Carter Nash<\/strong> in the crease.<\/p>\n<p>The Tim Adams Memorial Award is annually presented in honour of Tim Adams, who was a graduate of the Greater Toronto Hockey League and a long-time coach of both the Toronto Marlboros and Toronto Young HoneyBaked comes out on top at 2026 OHL Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TORONTO &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>For the first time in OHL Cup history, an American-based team has come away as champions. Detroit HoneyBaked outlasted the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 3-1 to come out on top at the annual showcase of OHL Draft eligible talent, closing out the event with a perfect 7-0 record.<\/p>\n<p>A big Saturday afternoon crowd took in the action at Mattamy Athletic Centre, formerly Maple Leaf Gardens in downtown Toronto as tournament MVP <strong>Austin Hall<\/strong> lit the lamp twice for HoneyBaked, scoring the deciding goal on a rebound four minutes into the third period.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the latest in a series of momentous victories for HoneyBaked, who emerged as Michigan state champions last month and also won the Whitby International Silver Stick tournament back in November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Words can&#8217;t describe it,&#8221; said Hall, who led the OHL Cup in scoring with 14 points. &#8220;First American team to do it &#8211; it&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been a third period team all year long, coming back from behind and just pushing and having grit. Our saying is &#8216;grittiness,&#8217; we just love to play hockey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reid Fallon<\/strong> opened the scoring with his first of the tournament 5:08 into the first period with assists from <strong>Max Mitchell<\/strong> and <strong>Max Lappan<\/strong>. HoneyBaked led 1-0 after a tight-checking first period.<\/p>\n<p>The Jr. Canadiens drew even on a goal from <strong>Jackson Zinkie<\/strong> 1:29 into the second as he was the beneficiary of a hard net drive from blueliner <strong>Anthony Peragine <\/strong>who rushed down the wing.<\/p>\n<p>Knotted at one to start the third, HoneyBaked came up with the decisive goal-ahead goal as Hall put-home a rebound off <strong>Ivan Belikov<\/strong>&#8216;s initial point shot.<\/p>\n<p>Hall cashed-in on the empty net for his seventh goal of the showcase with 21 seconds to go, sealing the win for HoneyBaked to make OHL Cup history.<\/p>\n<p>HoneyBaked outshot the Jr. Canadiens 28-24 as goaltender <strong>Carter Nash<\/strong> turned in 23 saves to improve to 5-0 in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m so proud of the boys, they&#8217;ve worked hard for this and it&#8217;s been one of our goals since the start of the season,&#8221; said HoneyBaked Head Coach <strong>Matthew Romaniski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were serious about coming and winning this. It was good to come up here and finish out the year the right way. The boys have been focused and dedicated. I think we did a pretty good job this week.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford was on-hand to present the OHL Cup to Detroit HoneyBaked captain <strong>Max Lappan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Toronto Jr. Canadiens come away as silver medalists with a tournament record of 6-1, appearing in the OHL Cup Championship Final for the third time in the last four years.\u00a0<strong>Brayden Grima<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Kash Kwajah<\/strong> finish tied for second in OHL Cup scoring with 13 points respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Detroit HoneyBaked emerged victorious from a field of 25 teams, the most the OHL Cup has featured in its 23-year history. Final<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Upper Canada College Blues vs. Toronto Jr. Canadiens<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Final: 3 (JRC) \u2013 2 (UCC)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Toronto Jr. Canadiens are headed to the OHL Cup Final after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Upper Canada College Blues in semifinal action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">JRC struck early in the opening period, as Khov Long (2) gave the Jr. Canadiens the lead. London, though, would answer back, with Finley Butler (4) scoring on the man advantage to even the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Detroit regained the lead before the end of the frame, as Liam Voit (2) found the back of the net to make it 2-1 heading into the intermission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The momentum carried into the second period, where Voit (3) struck again to extend the HoneyBaked lead. Kash Kwajah (3) evened the score on the power play before Kade O\u2019Rourke (3) followed it up just moments later, also on the man advantage, to give Toronto their first lead of the game.<\/p>\n<p>The momentum continued to swing in JRC\u2019s favour as Jude Litman (1) added an insurance marker later in the frame, extending the lead to 3-1 heading into the third period.<\/p>\n<p>Toronto would put the game out of reach early in the final frame, as Alessandro Cadorin (2) scored just 10 seconds into the period to make it 4-1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say it&#8217;s confidence as much as it is trust in one another, which makes us feel comfortable on the ice,\u201d said Kash Kwajah. \u201cI know we\u2019re going to be bringing our best effort tonight so we can advance to the finals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From there, the Jr. Canadiens shut things down defensively to secure the win and punch their ticket to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m expecting them to bring their best, as will we, so we will have to see who comes out on top,\u201d Kwajah added.<\/p>\n<p>With the victory, the Jr. Canadiens will face Upper Canada College at 8:00 p.m. tonight in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Era Players of the Game:<\/strong><br \/>\nTPH Academy: Jake Hall (D)<br \/>\nToronto Jr. Canadiens: Kash Kwajah (F) \u2013 1G, 2A<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>U<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>CC Punches Ticket to Semi-Finals with 4-2 Win Over Don Mills<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Don Mills Flyers vs Upper Canada College Blues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Final: 4 (UCC) &#8211; 2 (DMF)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A strong first period from the Upper Canada College Blues helped propel them to a 4-2 victory over the Don Mills Flyers in the 2026 OHL Cup quarter-finals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have the confidence to [win close games],\u201d explained UCC forward Bohdan Gorenstein, \u201cwe\u2019ve been in these situations all year long, even against these guys. We live for those types of games where it\u2019s close and we know we\u2019ll get the job done.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It was Cole Coristine (2) of Don Mills who opened the scoring early in the first period to get the Flyers off to a good start. Max Fransen (2) answered right back for UCC to even the game 1-1 and get the ball rolling for his team. That momentum continued for the Blues when Cammie List (2) added another just 42 seconds later. With under a minute to go in the first period Logan Prud\u2019Homme (5) netted his fifth of the tournament to make it a 3-1 at the intermission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don Mills needed a good start to the third period and that\u2019s exactly what they got, taking advantage of an early powerplay with Gavin Godick (2) scoring to bring his team within one. Fans moved to the edge of their seats late in the game when UCC\u2019s Jay Nimchonok got called for hooking to send Don Mills to the powerplay again with a chance to tie the game. London responded later in the frame with Drew Bate (6) tying the game, but Detroit quickly regained the lead through Alexander Smidt (1) to make it 2-1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Jr. Knights answered with a strong push to close out the period, as Quinn Roberts (3) scored on the power play to even things up.
