Quinte climbs to 2-0 with win over NOHA
From Wild Card Play-In to 2-0, all in 24 hours.
The Quinte Red Devils continued to turn heads on Wednesday night as Matt Sherwin and Dawson Baker each scored twice to fuel a 4-2 win over Team NOHA.
The Red Devils climbed out to a 4-0 lead with three of their four markers coming on the man advantage.
“We just seemed to be finding each other out there,” said Sherwin, who collected his second and third goals of the showcase. “We’ve really played the way the coaches have been instructing us. Everyone is buying in and everyone is contributing in their own way. That is what makes our team click.”
Quinte took advantage of NOHA penalty trouble, finishing 3-for-11 on the powerplay as Matthew Poole and Theo Citrullo gathered assists. Dawson Baker recorded a two-goal outing, following up a similar effort in Tuesday’s Wild Card Play-In victory.
The Red Devils stunned the Toronto Marlboros earlier in the day, defeating them 2-1 behind a great performance from netminder Pierce Nelson.
Team NOHA goals came from Damien Giroux and Chad Denault in the loss.
Quinte goes for a 3-0 start to the showcase on Thursday against the Southern Tier Admirals (1-1).
