Wolves come back to defeat Lakers in high-intensity matchup
The Waterloo Wolves pulled off a comeback, defeating their ALLIANCE rivals the Huron-Perth Lakers 4-3.
Waterloo’s Brayden Stumpf (1) tied the score at three late in the second before Joey Brehmer (1) netted the game-winner in the third, leading Waterloo to their first win of the tournament. The Wolves lost their first matchup to the Markham Majors earlier in the day.
Brady Martin (1) and Atley Rogers (1) opened the scoring for each of their respective teams, both earning Player of the Game honours.
“It was a tough game, but we fought through to score those four goals,” said Martin. “We needed that win and we played a hard, physical game to get the job done.”
Blake Elzinga and Jesse Coombs rounded out Huron-Perth’s goal-scoring as the Lakers were outshot 20-15.
The Lakers take the ice tomorrow morning against the Quinte Red Devils, while the Wolves return to action at 2:15pm against the Thunder Bay Kings.
