Wolves close out OHL Cup in the win column
The Waterloo Wolves closed out their OHL Cup with a 4–2 win over the Barrie Colts, though both teams had already been eliminated from playoff contention.
After a scoreless opening frame, Waterloo took control in the second. Zack Forwell (2) broke the deadlock, with Colton Sinclair (1) and Max Wildfong (2) adding insurance to give the Wolves a 3–0 lead heading into the third.
Ethan McPhee (1) extended the advantage early in the final period before Barrie pushed back with goals from Lachlan Larmand (1) and Ben Marling (1), narrowing the deficit but falling short of a comeback.
Reflecting on the Wolves’ final outing, Forwell offered a heartfelt perspective: “I think we knew after this morning’s game that our season was over. We just wanted to have one last game, have fun, and bring it all together. Cherish every moment with the group of boys you have on your team; those are the best memories you will have in life.”
While the Wolves and Colts see their tournament runs come to an end, both leave with memories of a season well-played.
