Windsor and Kingston battle to 1-1 draw
The Windsor Jr. Spitfires and Greater Kingston Jr. Frontenacs both came away with a point in the standings after overtime solved nothing in a 1-1 tie.
Kingston’s Nolan Hutcheson scored 2:36 into the third period, giving his club a short lived lead that was nullified when Windsor’s Owen Lalonde scored the equalizer at 6:02.
Kingston’s Eric Tessier and Windsor’s Eric Pillon went shot-for-shot in the crease, both helping their clubs earn a point in their first game against each other this season.
“We’re unfamiliar with them, but we are quite evenly matched,” said Kingston head coach Casey Torres post-game. “We both play a really physical game and I think the game showed that. There wasn’t a ton of scoring chances either way. The most important thing for us was getting a point to stay alive and now we need some help from York Simcoe to beat these guys tomorrow.”
Kingston’s approach the rest of the way is pretty simple.
“We got here through a Wild Card game and really, they’re all Wild Card games from here on out,” Torres added. “We need to win every one.”
Kingston faces the Toronto Red Wings on Friday while Windsor battles the York Simcoe Express.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Kingston – Eric Tessier (G)
