Walker scores twice as Titans shut out Raiders
Two GTHL teams went head-to-head as the Toronto Titans secured their first tournament win with a 3-0 shutout over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.
Timothy Walker (2) led the offence with a pair of goals, while Michael Tang (1) added another to seal the victory. Strong defensive play helped the Titans keep the Raiders off the scoreboard, setting the tone for a confident start to the tournament.
Titans goaltender Malcolm Rose was solid between the pipes, earning the shutout by turning aside all 18 shots he faced.
Walker’s strong play earned him Player of the Game honors for Toronto, while Raiders netminder Ethan Maniaci received the recognition for Ajax-Pickering, blocking 22 of the 25 shots that came his way.
The Titans return to action tonight at 8:45 p.m. against a familiar opponent in the Toronto Marlboros, looking to build on their strong start. Meanwhile, the Raiders will regroup and chase their first win tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. against the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs.
