TPH Hockey remains undefeated with win over York-Simcoe
TPH Hockey extended their undefeated record to 2-0 on Tuesday morning, triumphing over the wild card entry York-Simcoe Express with a decisive 3-1 victory.
Goaltender Luke Courtney turned aside 11 of the 12 shots he faced, while Sean Matthew Goyette (1), younger brother of OHL top scorer David Goyette, along with Max Bjorkman (1) and James Rieber (1) each found the back of the net, powering TPH to victory.
Looking to further improve their tournament record, Bjorkman spoke on the team’s mindset heading into tomorrow, “We just have to keep playing heavy hockey, keeping the pucks down low, and coming together as a team. Continuing to support each other on the ice will get us wins.”
Chase Gaughan earned Player of the Game honours for TPH, while Jackson Halloran (1) also earned the recognition, scoring York-Simcoe’s lone marker.
The 0-2 York-Simcoe Express will take on the Vaughan Kings at 5:00pm, while TPH Hockey will look to earn their third win of the tournament when they take on the Kings Wednesday morning at 9:45am.
