TPH defeats Elgin-Middlesex 5-2 in early morning matchup
TPH Hockey came together Wednesday morning to defeat the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs 5-2 in their first game of the 2022 tournament.
Nelson Vickar saved nine out of 11 shots he faced, while his team scored three unanswered in the third period to earn the win. Caeden Heins (2) led TPH in scoring with a pair of goals as Payton Stowe (1), Nikolas Young (1) and Glenn Green (1) also had a goal each.
“I think our defensive zone was really strong. Our coaches got us together early to watch video and it was great to play with a new group of guys, we’re looking forward to the next game and seeing how far we can go,” said Heins.
Consisting of players from across the United States, TPH was a force to be reckoned with against the ALLIANCE’s fifth place finishers.
Heins earned Player of the Game honours for TPH as forward Dylan Richter earned the honours for the Chiefs.
TPH is back in action at 1:45pm against the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs, while Elgin-Middlesex faces off against the Jr. Canadiens at 7:30pm.
