Titans outlast Panthers in overtime, advance to Semi-Finals
Quarter-Final action commenced Thursday morning as the Toronto Titans defeated the Sun County Panthers 2-1 in overtime to advance to the 2025 OHL Cup Semi-Finals.
Titans forward Louis Lettieri (1) broke the deadlock with a goal in the second period to give the Titans the lead. 30 seconds into the third period, top prospect Jaako Wycisk (2) scored the equalizer to knot the game at one. Heading to overtime, the game would remained tied until Timothy Walker (3) picked up a loose puck in the slot to net the game winner.
Captain Ty Robar who earned Player of the Game for the Titans spoke about his teams performance, “They are a great team over there, it was tough all game, but I thought we played our game, executed our coaches game plan, and obviously a huge goal from Timothy Walker to capitalize.”
Set to face a familiar opponent in the Don Mills Flyers, as Robar talks about the Titans will be looking for some redemption, “We are looking for a bit of payback after coming up short to them in the GTHL finals. With the way our team is right now and our mindset, I have all the confidence in this group that we can take them.”
“It means the world. I’ve been wanting to play in this tournament since I was a kid, to make it to the semifinals and hopefully the finals is a dream come true,” said Robar discussing what it means to advance in the event.
The Titans will take on the Flyers in the first Semi-Final of the tournament at 6:00pm.
After winning the Alliance championship, Sun County finished their OHL Cup with a record of 2-2-1, led by Jaako Wycisk (1G, 6A) and Brayden Lappalainen (4G, 2A) with seven and six points, respectively.
