Team NOHA wins tournament-opener over London
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association had a strong start to the morning as they skated their way to a 4-2 tournament-opening win over the ALLIANCE’s second place finisher, the London Jr. Knights.
Mason Wray (2) had a pair of goals, while Nate Gravelle strung together three assists to lead NOHA to victory.
“Everyone contributed and did their part, we worked as hard as we could and got the win. We came out relentless and showed them what the boys up North can do, we’re ready for the next game,” said Gravelle.
Gavin McGahey-Smith (1) and Ryan Roobroeck (1) scored for London, but it wouldn’t be enough as Kaleb Papineau made 10 saves before Maverick Fletcher stepped in, backstopping the crease for NOHA.
McGahey-Smith earned Player of the Game for London, while Mason Wray earned the honours for team NOHA as they get into the win column at the OHL Cup Powered by Under Armour for a fifth straight year.
Team NOHA is back in action at 3:30pm against the York Simcoe Express while London looks to bounce back Thursday at noon against the wild card entry Vaughan Kings.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
