OHL Cup Day 4 Recap
Round-Robin action wrapped up on Friday at the 2016 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament, hosted by the Greater Toronto Hockey League, with 12 games that solidified final divisional standings.
Eight teams have advanced to Saturday’s Quarter-Finals including five GTHL and three OMHA clubs.
All three OMHA clubs to advance did so on the strength of undefeated records led by the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs who were the lone team to emerge from round-robin play with a perfect 4-0-0 record. The Bulldogs led the Lindros Division ahead of the 3-1-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
The Quinte Red Devils came out on top of the Nash Division with a 3-0-1 record edging the 3-1-0 Toronto Marlboros by a single point.
The York Simcoe Express claimed the Subban Division with a 2-0-2 mark ahead of the Toronto Red Wings who went 2-2-0.
The Shanahan Division featured both the Don Mills Flyers and the Mississauga Rebels playing to equal 3-1-0 records with the Flyers gaining the edge with the head-to-head victory.

Game 1 – Toronto Red Wings 3, Mississauga Senators 1: Barrett Hayton had a goal and an assist as the Toronto Red Wings improved to 2-1 with a victory over the Mississauga Senators. Game Summary
Game 2 – Toronto Marlboros 3, Team NOHA 1: Danil Antropov and Kevin Bahl both had a goal and an assist as the Toronto Marlboros rebounded from a Wednesday loss to defeat Team NOHA 3-1. Game Summary
Game 3 – Mississauga Rebels 8, London Jr. Knights 2: Zack Young scored twice and added an assist as the Mississauga Rebels won big over the London Jr. Knights. Game Summary
Game 4 – Toronto Jr. Canadiens 5, Thunder Bay Kings 1: Matthew Falls scored twice as the Toronto Jr. Canadiens continued their ascent back from an opening game loss, defeating the Thunder Bay Kings 5-1. Game Summary
Game 5 – Barrie Colts 2, Elite Hockey Group 1 OT: The Barrie Jr. Colts rallied for an overtime win over Elite Hockey Group, finishing Round Robin play with a 2-1-1 record. Game Summary
Game 6 – York Simcoe Express 5, Windsor Jr. Spitfires 1: The York Simcoe Express got back to playing their speed game, turning on the jets to get by the Windsor Jr. Spitfires 5-1. Game Summary
Game 7 – Quinte Red Devils 2, Southern Tier 0: Dawson Baker scored his fourth of the showcase as the Quinte Red Devils blanked the Southern Tier Admirals to finish Round Robin play atop the Nash Division. Game Summary
Game 8 – Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs, Niagara North Stars: The Hamilton Bulldogs improved to 4-0 at the 2016 OHL Cup with a 3-2 win over the SCTA opponent Niagara North Stars. Game Summary
Game 9 – Kingston Jr. Frontenacs 6, Toronto Red Wings 5 OT: Brett Humberstone scored 27 seconds into overtime as the Greater Kingston Jr. Frontenacs ended their time at the 2016 OHL Cup on a high note. Game Summary
Game 10 – Toronto Marlboros 7, TPH Hockey 3: The Toronto Marlboros capped off a successful Friday at the OHL Cup, defeating TPH Hockey 7-3 to advance to Saturday’s Quarter-Finals. Game Summary
