Marlies charge into Quarter-Finals with 7-3 win
Justin Pringle led the way with a hat-trick while Michael Little pitched in with a goal and two assists as the Toronto Marlboros wrapped up a 2-0 Friday with a 7-3 victory over TPH Hockey.
Tag Bertuzzi’s fourth of the showcase opened the scoring for TPH before the Marlies roared back with four consecutive to take control and advance to Saturday’s Quarter-Finals.
Thomas Tinmouth, James Buckley and Akil Thomas all had a goal and an assist in the victory.
“We knew we had to make a statement today after losing to Quinte,” Tinmouth said after the win. “I think it put some fire under us and got us moving out there. We want to represent the Marlies organization well and bring home an OHL Cup just like those before us have, so we can’t afford to have anymore poor showings the rest of the way.”
Josh Maine and Braiden Dorfman also had goals for TPH in the loss as they wrap up their OHL Cup schedule with a 0-3-1 record. Hunter Nofs led TPH in scoring with six points (2-4–6) in four games.
The Marlies finish with a 3-1-0 record in Round Robin play, good for second place in the Nash Division.
