Marlboros ride past Rangers in 4-2 victory
After a tight first-period, the Toronto Marlboros would fire home three markers to defeat the North York Rangers 4-2. The Rangers found their way into the tournament after defeating the Clarington Toros in Tuesday night’s wild card play.
Carter Lowe (1), Zachary Sheppard (1), Sam Dickinson (1) and Jay Feldberg (1) each found the back of the net for the Marlboros, as Christopher Brown (2) scored both goals for the Rangers.
“It felt good to help the team win, it’s a big first game,” said Dickinson. The blueliner is among the best defencemen in the GTHL, and one of the OHL’s top Priority Selection prospects.
“We were physical and we played hard. I’m looking forward to playing a lot of good teams in the upcoming days.”
Dickinson was awarded Player of the Game honours for Toronto, while Brown equally impressed to earn the honours for the Rangers.
The Marlies are back at it this evening when they face the wild card entry Markham Waxers at 5:15pm. North York prepares to face the ALLIANCE’s first place Brantford 99ers at 5:45pm.
