Marlboros clinch first place in Subban Division with perfect Round Robin
With a 5-1 win over the Brantford 99ers the Toronto Marlboros finish with a perfect record in the Subban Division, clinching top spot and booking themselves a spot in the OHL Cup Powered by Under Armour Quarter-Finals.
Jay Feldberg (2A), Leo Serlin (1G, 1A), Marcus Ochrym (2G), and Beckett Sennecke (1G, 1A) all had two points in a dominant win with Marko Bilic making 16 saves.
Sennecke earned his second Player of the Game award of the tournament and talked about what the win meant to the group saying, “It was a big win for our group securing us first place in our division, and we’re looking forward to the Quarter-Finals tomorrow.”
Marek Vanacker had the lone goal for Brantford in the game, picking up Player of the Game recognition as the 99ers suffered their first loss, being outshot 51-18.
“This has been our goal all season to win this tournament, so we’re just taking it one game at a time,” added Sennecke. A top prospect for the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Sennecke and the Marlboros are excited to be in the Quarter-Finals, having looked forward to this event all year long.
The Marlboros will play the second place team in the Shanahan Division Saturday at 10:30 an in Quarter-Final action. Brantford plays this afternoon at 3:00 pm against the Markham Waxers with a spot in the Quarter-Final on the line.
