Little Caesars clinch Quarter-Finals with win over Canes
Detroit Little Caesars clinched their spot in the 2025 OHL Cup quarterfinals after a 2-1 win over the OMHA champion Halton Hurricanes.
Jumping out to a 2-0 lead after one period play with goals from Brock Burch (2) and Maxwell Adams (1). Hurricanes top prospect Aleksandr Sementsov (2) brought his team within one midway through the second. However, behind strong defence and 18 saves from goaltender Daryn Szabo Detroit would hold on for the rest of the game.
Detroit outshot Halton 32-19 with Hurricanes goaltender Cole Vreugdenhil making 30 saves to earn player of the game honours for his team.
This is Little Caesars first appearance in the quarterfinals since they last competed in the OHL Cup in 2019.Little Caesars will have the opportunity to clinch the top spot in the Lindros Division with a win or a tie against Huron Perth this afternoon 3:45pm.
Halton will finish their round robin with the final game of the day at 7:15 pm against NOHA.
