Lane’s four goals power Marlboros into win column
A four-goal performance from Aidan Lane powered the Toronto Marlboros into the win column on the heels of a disappointing tournament-opening loss. The Marlboros bounced back, defeating the Huron-Perth Lakers 7-4.
Toronto opened up the scoring with goals from Aidan Lane (2,3,4, 5), Lev Katzin (1) and William Moore (1). Huron-Perth battled back with a goal from Carson Harmer (1), but Toronto’s Lane would increase the lead with his third goal of the tournament. Cody Bach (1) would add another tally for the Lakers to make it 4-2 heading into the second frame.
Coming out hot, Lane continued his scoring ways to secure the hat trick, but the Lakers would respond with another pair of markers from Dax Vader (1) and Grady Murphy (1).
It was Lane again who would find the back of the net in the third for his fourth of the contest, while Joseph Cadorin (1) netted the empty-netter to make it 7-4.
“We had a tough game this morning but we stuck to the game plan tonight and played well. We made sure to get shots on net. It was a strong group effort,” Lane added.
Lane earned BARDOWN Player of the Game honours for the Marlboros, while Carson Harmer (1) took home recognition for Huron-Perth.
The Marlies prepare to face the Toronto Jr. Canadiens tomorrow at 7:30pm, while the Lakers also return to action tomorrow when they gear up against the Halton Hurricanes at 10:15am.
