Lakers shut down NOHA in 3-0 victory
The Huron-Perth Lakers blanked Team NOHA in a dominant 3-0 performance, securing the tournament’s fourth shutout of the day.
The scoring began in the first period when Wes Robertson (1) found the back of the net midway through the opening frame, securing what would be the game-winning tally. Myles Phillips (1) extended the Lakers lead with a goal in the second period, while Kane Barch (1) sealed the victory with a final marker early in the third frame.
Cullen Kerslake, named Player of the Game, was pivotal on the backend for the Laker’s defensive strategy, finishing the game with a +3 rating. “We worked them down low and up high. We were really just connecting with the net tonight.”
Their defensive efforts were supported by their goalie, Ian Kubelka, who recorded a 14-save shutout performance.
As both teams kicked off their tournament journeys, the Huron-Perth Lakers showcased a strong all-around performance, earning a well-deserved shutout victory. Team NOHA, though unable to find the back of the net, demonstrated resilience and a solid effort in their first game of the tournament.
They will both be back in action Tuesday morning, eager to build on their performances.
