Jr. Canadiens continue scoring surge to beat Kings
After a loss to the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs to open the 2016 OHL Cup, the Toronto Jr. Canadiens have come back with a pair of lopsided wins, scoring their latest victory over the Thunder Bay Kings on Friday.
Matthew Falls, Kirill Nizhnikov and Justin Paul all had multi-point performances as the Jr. Canadiens used a three-goal third period to pull away from Thunder Bay in a 5-1 victory.
“This tournament has been wide open and our division is really tight so we wanted to score as many goals as we could in this game,” said Justin Paul who finished the morning with a goal and an assist. “Since losing that first game I think we’ve come back strong as a team and had everybody contributing. We want to take it a step further in our next game.”
Christian Mattiace recorded the win in goal while Falls led the way with a goal and two assists.
The Thunder Bay Kings wrap up their OHL Cup schedule with a record of 1-3-0, being led in scoring by Robert Tyska who buried his second goal of the showcase in Friday’s loss.
The Jr. Canadiens prepare for a Friday afternoon tilt with the Waterloo Wolves.
