Jovanovski stops 42 as Sun County holds on to tie York-Simcoe
The York Simcoe Express and Sun County Panthers played to a 1-1 tie to open up Day 2 of the 2023 OHL Cup.
After a goal from Express defenceman Rylan Singh (1) opened up the scoring midway through the second. Sun County captain Cameron Arquette (1) found the back of the net with a great shot to tie the game in the third.
Both goalies stood tall in the crease with York-Simcoe goaltender Carter Nadon stopping 24 of 25 shots, and Panthers goalie Zach Jovanovski stopping 42 of 43 in the game.
“We worked hard, and the team really played great defence in front of me, keeping the shots to the outside and letting me see the puck and make the saves,” said Jovanovski, as he discussed the battle from his team along with his performance in the net.
The Express will now get ready to play at 4:00pm against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Sun County won’t play again till tomorrow at 9:45am against the Thunder Bay Kings.
