Huron Perth rallies in overtime win over Halton
Huron Perth rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure their second win of the OHL Cup, defeating the Halton Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime.
With two goals in the second from Colton D’Amico (2) and Alex Taylor (1) the Hurricanes went into the third with a two goal lead.
The Lakers would roar back in the third with captain Jake Murray (1) scored, pulling the Lakers within one. With the net empty, Jack Taylor (1) found the back of the net off the reverse feed from Kane Barch to send the game to overtime.
In overtime Clark deBoer (1) scored off a backhand play in alone to complete the comeback for the Lakers.
“We’ve done it all year. Our third period is always our best. We were able to regroup in the room, came out flying. Hats off to our guys they worked hard, an we deserved that one,” said Murray highlighting his teams resilience and ability to comeback in games.
As they look to stay undefeated, Murray described his teams mindset saying, “We just have to keep doing what we’re doing. We’ve battled all year through injuries, as long as we play our game we will be good.”
Huron Perth will try to remain perfect when they take on the Toronto Red Wings at 5:. Halton takes on Detroit Little Caesars in the first game of the day tomorrow as they look to bounce back.
