Detroit secures victory with third period push
A three goal third period powered Detroit Little Caesars to a 6-4 win over Team NOHA.
Cedar Montreuil (2) had the lone goal of the first period to give NOHA the one goal lead. Owen Smith (1) doubled their lead until Little Caesars forward Brock Burch (1) scored to pull Little Caesars within one. Montreuil would put NOHA back up by two before Massimo Santa Maria (2) and Gunner Gullstrand (2) tied the game up at three midway through the second. Adam Pszeniczny (1) scored late in the third to give NOHA the lead at the flood.
Little Caesars would then score three straight in the third with Gullstrand netting his second of the game, and Kage Flory (1) and Christian Kolodzeij (1) finding the back of the net for their team.
“It wasn’t the start we wanted obviously. We just had to get back to doing the simple things, once we did the puck started going in,” said Gullstrand talking about his teams comeback in the contest.
With two tough matchups tomorrow against the OMHA champion Halton Hurricanes and Alliance finalist Huron Perth Lakers, the mindset is simple said Gullstrand, “Win, we just got to go out there and win.”
NOHA will turn their attention to tomorrow where they will play the Red Wings in their first of two games on the day.
