Colts claim tournament spot with 6-2 win over Lambton
The Barrie Jr. Colts defeated the Lambton Jr. Sting 6-2 to return to the OHL Cup for the first time since 2018.
A high-paced offensive matchup, Cole Hodgson found the back of the net less than a minute into the first period, while forwards Paul Mazanik, Logan Hawery, Matt Andersen and Wynston Martin also contributed to the scoresheet for Barrie.
Recording a two-point night, Hawery commented on his team’s return to action. “We haven’t played in a couple of weeks, this was our first game back and I think we played really well.”
“I’m really looking forward to the OHL Cup experience. I grew up dreaming of it as a little kid and I’m excited to be a part of it now,” added the 2008-born forward.
The Colts return to the annual tournament for the first time in four years as they compete in the Subban Division alongside the Mississauga Senators, Southern Tier Admirals, London Jr. Knights and the winner of the fifth wildcard matchup between the Whitby Wildcats and Central Ontario Wolves.
