Arniotis shuts out Cyclones in Express win
Lucian Arniotis picked up a 28 save shutout to help the York-Simcoe Express finish the OHL Cup with a 3-0 win over the Upper Canada Cyclones.
The Express scored once each period with goals from Cole Crawford (3), Nathan Cloutier (1), and Tanner Ray (1) as they carried over their momentum from yesterdays overtime win.
“We got a lot of momentum coming into today, so we just wanted to come in with energy. I was able to stay calm and keep cool, I’m glad we could all contribute to the win,” said Arniotis talking about what went well for him and his team today.
Despite not moving on, Arniotis spoke about the opportunity to play in the tournament saying, “It was huge, just have such a great group, playing with them all year it means a lot to everyone to get to finish it off here.”
Cole McLennan was named Under Armour Player of the Game for Upper Canada in the loss.
York Simcoe finishes with a record of 2-2 with Ryerson Edgar (4G, 4A) and Benjamin Veitch (3G, 5A) leading the Express in scoring with 8 points each. Quinn Young (4G, 1A) and Carter Cuglietta (5A) finished with a team leading 5 points each as Upper Canada finished at 0-3-1.
