Amidovski’s hat-trick powers Colts past Titans
The Barrie Jr. Colts improve to 2-0 after a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Valley Titans, with Nathan Amidovski scoring goals 2, 3 and 4 of the showcase.
Jumping out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Brody Dunbar (1) the Titans were able to capture some momentum early on. However, the OMHA champion Colts showed their resilience and high-end talent, scoring five unanswered with top prospect Nathan Amidovski netting three, joined by goals from forwards Luca Astri (1) and Logan Hawery (1).
Alex McLean registered four assists in the win, and knew his team would be okay despite the early deficit. “Obviously they were able to get the first one, and we really fought through some adversity to get back in the game, a couple nice goals from Amidovski and we got to work which ultimately helped us beat them.”
“Over the year we have had some great chemistry, he (Amidovski) feeds me the puck when I want it, I feed him the puck when he wants it, we always know where each other are and he’s able to put the puck in the back of the net, we just make things happen out there,” described McLean as he spoke about the chemistry between himself and Amidovski. A couple top prospects for the upcoming OHL Priority Selection, McLean and Amidovski have been on a line together for much of the year.
Barrie will get set for their final two games of the tournament as they look to clinch top spot in the group with games against Elgin-Middlesex Wednesday morning at 10:00am followed by Team NOHA at 7:00pm. Ottawa Valley (1-2-0) will wrap up their 2024 OHL Cup as they look for their second win Wednesday afternoon at 1:15pm against Team NOHA.
