2025 OHL Cup Final Preview
A battle of the GTHL’s best takes centre stage tonight as the Don Mills Flyers and Toronto Jr. Canadiens go head-to-head in the 2025 OHL Cup Final at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in downtown Toronto.
The Flyers enter the championship game with a 5-1 tournament record, fresh off their GTHL championship title, where they posted an impressive 30-2-1 regular season. Don Mills goaltender Noah La Gambina has been a standout, securing the tournament’s only perfect 5-0 record in net. The Flyers hold a 1-1-1 record against the Jr. Canadiens in regular-season action, setting the stage for a high-intensity showdown tonight.
“We’ve played them throughout the year and met them in the final of the Marlboros tournament, which we went on to win. I think it’s going to be more about what we want to do and how we want to play,” said Flyers Head Coach Jamie Edwards.
Don Mills returns to the OHL Cup Final for the first time since 2019, when a team featuring future OHL stars Shane Wright (Windsor Spitfires, Kingston Frontenacs), Brennan Othmann (Peterborough Petes, Flint Firebirds), and Brandt Clarke (Barrie Colts) claimed the title in overtime against the Toronto Red Wings. That Don Mills team is widely regarded as one of the best OHL Cup teams in history.
“I think it’s going to come down to playing our game, playing with heart, and executing the way we want to. At the end of the day, let the best team win,” added Edwards.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens forward Noah Laus leads all tournament scorers heading into tonight’s final, registering 12 points (4-8-12) through six games, with teammate Camryn Warren close behind at 11 points (5-6-11).
Entering the tournament as a Wildcard team after boasting a 21-5-7 regular season record, the Jr. Canadiens are looking to cap off their run with a championship victory over a familiar opponent.
“Don Mills is an unbelievable hockey team from top to bottom. We know we’re in for a battle, we’ve had four or five tough matchups with them this year, and nothing is going to come easy. We just have to prepare like it’s any other day, enjoy the moment, and hopefully capitalize on a few more of their mistakes than ours,” said JRC Head Coach Matt Viola.
This marks JRC’s third OHL Cup Final appearance in the last four years, with their most recent championship win coming in 2023. That team was led by top 2025 NHL Draft prospect and former 2024 OHL Rookie of the Year, Jake O’Brien (Brantford Bulldogs), who earned tournament MVP honours with 17 points (7-10-17).
“This group has been through the fire together. We’ve faced adversity this year, but we came together at the right time. It’s a pretty special group, and I think we’re all excited for the opportunity to become OHL Cup champions,” Viola added.
