Four OHL players have been named to Slovakia’s National Junior Team summer camp roster ahead of preparations for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.<\/p>\n
Sudbury Wolves forwards Adam Nemec and J\u00e1n Chovan are joined by incoming OHL imports Michal Svrcek of the Windsor Spitfires and Lucian Bern\u00e1t of the Owen Sound Attack among the 31 players invited to Slovakia’s five-day camp in Pie\u0161\u0165any from July 20-24.<\/p>\n
The camp marks the beginning of Slovakia’s preparations for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship and will include two exhibition games against the country’s Under-18 National Team as it readies for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.<\/p>\n
Nemec returns after a strong finish to the 2025-26 season, joining the Sudbury Wolves midway through the campaign and producing 35 points (14-21-35) in 31 regular season games. The 2026 third-round Ottawa Senators draft pick also represented Slovakia at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording five points in five games.<\/p>\n
Chovan also earns a spot after an impressive first OHL season in Sudbury. Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2025 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-3 forward recorded 55 points (28-27-55) in 60 games with the Wolves while adding two goals in four playoff contests. He represented Slovakia at both the 2025 and 2026 World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n
Svrcek, who signed with the Windsor Spitfires in June after being selected in the 2025 CHL Import Draft, joins the camp following a season that included time in Sweden’s SHL with Bryn\u00e4s IF. A Detroit Red Wings prospect, he also suited up for Slovakia at the 2026 World Junior Championship.<\/p>\n
Bern\u00e1t, who recently signed with the Owen Sound Attack after being selected in the 2025 CHL Import Draft, rounds out the OHL contingent. The 6-foot-4 winger recorded 31 points (15-16-31) with Tappara’s U20 club in Finland last season while representing Slovakia at the 2026 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.<\/p>\n
Slovakia opens camp on July 20 before playing a pair of exhibition games against its Under-18 National Team. The Sarnia Sting announced today that the club has signed goaltender Ivan Tkach-Tkachenko (tuh-KACH tuh-CHEN-koh) to a Standard Player Agreement. The Sting selected Tkach-Tkachenko with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2026 CHL Import Draft.<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-catching goaltender from Chernolesovsky, Russia, spent the 2025-26 season with Ufa Tolpar of the MHL, posting a 2.80 goals-against average and .894 save percentage in 27 games. Tkach-Tkachenko was also selected by the Utah Mammoth in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n
The signing adds another highly regarded prospect to the Sting roster as the organization continues to build toward the 2026-27 campaign. Tkach-Tkachenko’s experience at the highest levels of junior hockey, combined with his NHL pedigree, provides the Sting with a strong presence between the pipes heading into training camp.<\/p>\n

BRAMPTON, ON \u2013<\/strong> The Brampton Steelheads announced the signing of their 7th overall pick in this year\u2019s 2026 CHL Import Draft, goaltender Oskari Ahmajarvi, to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/p>\nAhmajarvi, a native of Nurmij\u00e4rvi, Finland, became the first goaltender selected by the Brampton Steelheads in the 2026 CHL Import Draft when the club chose him 7th overall in the first round. The 6-foot, 181-pound netminder was the first goaltender taken in the draft after an impressive season with Keikko-Espoo in the U20 SM-Sarja league, where he posted a 2.34 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 29 appearances. Ahmaj\u00e4rvi has also represented Finland on the international stage on multiple occasions at the U16, U17 and U18 levels.<\/p>\n
Director of Goaltending, David Shantz, had this to say about Oskari, \u201cOskari is a highly competitive, athletic goaltender with a strong track record of results.
