Wednesday Highlights: Goals galore

There was no shortage of scoring in Saginaw on Wednesday as the Spirit and the Hamilton Bulldogs combined for 13 goals in an 8-5 Saginaw victory.

Veteran forwards Kris Bennett and Connor Brown led the way with a pair of goals each as the Spirit put an end to Hamilton’s three-game winning streak.

Saginaw continues to hang around the .500 mark on the season, taking two points in one of two games on Wednesday night.

SAGINAW 8 HAMILTON 5 – The Saginaw Spirit and Hamilton Bulldogs combined for 13 goals on Wednesday as veteran forwards Kris Bennett and Connor Brown each scored twice in an 8-5 Spirit win. Saginaw led 4-1 after one period before the Bulldogs made a game of things. Artem Artemov, Tye Felhaber and Cole Coskey each had a goal and an assist while Dylan Sadowy and Marcus Crawford each recorded two assists. The Bulldogs had two goals from Adam Laishram while Michael Cramarossa had a goal and two assists and Mason Marchment registered three assists. Rookie defenceman Ondrej Kachyna scored his first career OHL goal in the loss.
GAME SUMMARY • HIGHLIGHTS

KINGSTON 4 OSHAWA 1 – Sophomore goaltender Jeremy Helvig made 40 saves to backstop the Kingston Frontenacs past Oshawa 4-1. Rookie winger Tyler Burnie scored his first OHL goal while defenceman Liam Murray collected his first in the Frontenacs uniform. Jason Robertson’s 16th goal of the season gave him his 10th in the month of December while Conor McGlynn also found the back of the net for Kingston. Oshawa rookie Domenic Commisso extended his current point streak to eight games, providing the Generals only goal in the loss.
