Hamilton crowned regular season champions
The Hamilton Bulldogs were crowned the 2022 regular season champions this week. The Bulldogs are currently riding a seven-game winning streak as they surpassed the 100-point mark on Sunday in Oshawa. With a 24-save shutout on Friday in Ottawa, goaltender Marco Costantini recorded his sixth career shutout, the most ever by a Bulldogs goaltender. Winning 48 games so far this season, this is the first time that the Hamilton Spectator Trophy has gone to Hamilton in their 64-year history. The Bulldogs close out their regular season with an upcoming three-game week.

Petes’ perfect week
The Peterborough Petes had a perfect week winning three for three as they punched their ticket to the OHL Playoffs. Joe Carroll led with a goal and two assists while six others had multi-point outputs as the Petes swept their season series against the Colts on Sunday. Michael Simpson earned OHL Goaltender of the Week honours with wins in all three of his outings, logging his first career OHL shutout in the process. The Petes head into their final game of the season on Sunday with the possibility of finishing as high as sixth depending on results from Oshawa and Ottawa.

Spitfires push winning streak to 13
The Windsor Spitfires pushed their winning streak to 13 games, the third-longest in franchise history. The Spits clinched the West Division this weekend, becoming the champions for the first time since 2010 and will enter the playoffs as the first seed in the Western Conference. Leading point-scorer Wyatt Johnston also upped his record to 123 points, the fifth-highest total in Spitfires history.

Hardie breaks new ground for Steelheads
Mississauga Steelheads forward James Hardie scored his 40th goal of the season on Saturday, setting a new mark for Steelheads forwards with his 76th point of the campaign. He surpassed Owen Tippett’s 2016-17 and 2017-18 marks of 75 points, and is two points back of Nicolas Hague’s 2017-18 single season club record. Hardie currently sits fourth in all-time points by a Steelheads player with 161, behind Michael McLeod, Owen Tippett and Ryan McLeod.

Battalion capture Central Division
The North Battalion captured the Central Division title for the first time since 2014. Brandon Coe is just one point shy of becoming the second North Bay Battalion player to ever hit triple digits, while Mitchell Russell scored his 40th goal of the season on Saturday. The Battalion have five different players with at least 30 goals in their lineup as the Troops look to extend their win streak to seven.

Fronts stay hot with a perfect weekend
The Kingston Fronts capped-off a perfect weekend, one that saw them score 26 goals in three victories as 2022 NHL Draft prospect Paul Ludwinski led the way with a hat trick and assist to close it out in Niagara on Sunday. Los Angeles Kings prospect Martin Chromiak extended his league-leading goal streak to eight games as the Fronts sit at third in the Eastern Conference.

More record-breaking in Flint
After establishing a new franchise record for points in a season on Saturday, the Firebirds improved to 40-20-1-4 with a win over Sarnia on Sunday. New York Rangers prospect Brennan Othmann set a new single season points mark with his 91st, scoring his 44th goal of the season in the win while Winnipeg Jets prospect Dmitry Kuzmin equaled Riley McCourt’s mark of 18 goals for the most by a Firebirds defenceman in a single season.

Knights clinch Midwest Division
The London Knights clinched the Midwest Division after earning a point in their contest with the Guelph Storm on Sunday. Earning their third straight Midwest Division title and the 11th in the last 18 years, the Knights have locked up the second seed spot in the Western Conference.

Rangers grab back-to-back wins, beat Erie on Monday
The Kitchener Rangers had a two-win weekend defeating Sarnia and Owen Sound before clinching a playoff spot on Monday with a 3-2 road win over Erie. Matthew Sop built off his Friday third period game winner as he recorded a pair of assists on Saturday. The Rangers climb back to .500 with a record of 30-30-3-2, setting up a first round date with the London Knights in the first round of the OHL Playoffs.

Gushchin keeps scoring for IceDogs
Even on a last place team, San Jose Sharks prospect Danil Gushchin finds ways to keep scoring. The Niagara IceDogs winger sniped his 40th of the season on Sunday as the Dogs fell 10-5 to the Kingston Frontenacs. Gushchin has scored approximately 18% of his team’s goals this season, and is the latest IceDogs player to score 40 in a season. He joins other recent entries in Jason Robertson and Ben Jones who last did so in 2018-19.
