Knights, Rangers, Spitfires and Generals included in Week 15 edition of CHL Top 10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 15 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With a CHL-best 30 wins and just two regulation losses since October 20, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) continue to rank No. 1 – having held the position for the last two months. Right behind them is the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL), who climbed up to second after extending their current point streak to 11 games (8-0-1-2). The Silvertips continue to be the WHL’s lone 30-win team. Lastly, rounding out the top three in third is the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), whose 33 wins during the 2024-25 campaign trail only the London Knights across the CHL.
Among the biggest changes to this week’s rankings was the rise of the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL and the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL. Riding an eight-game point streak (6-0-1-1), the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts Rimouski Océanic are up a couple of spots to fourth and back in the top five for the first time since the holiday break. Meanwhile, having won three games and scored 29 goals over their last four contests, the Spokane Chiefs rose three places to seventh in this week’s rankings.
The next rankings will be released the week of January 27, following the 16th week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 15
1. London Knights (OHL): With a pair of victories to extend their current point streak to 11 games (10-0-1-0), the London Knights (34-6-1-0) continue to hold their grapple on the top spot of the CHL Top-10 Rankings. Dating back to October 20, the Knights have won a CHL-best 30 games, having just lost twice in regulation over the last three months. Following their victories over Guelph (6-0) and Sudbury (8-1), London stands as the highest-scoring team in the CHL thanks to their 4.71 goals-per-game average. They also hold the second-best goal differential of any CHL club with a +87, trailing only the No.2-ranked Everett Silvertips (+90). During their pair of wins last week, San Jose Sharks prospect Kasper Halttunen (3G-10A in 13 GP) led the team with a goal and four assists as he has strung a four-game point streak since returning with a silver medal at the 2025 World Juniors. Right behind him was Easton Cowan (17G-17A in 24 GP) who registered two goals and two assists over the two games. Cowan now has a point in 60 consecutive regular-season contests dating back to November 25, 2023. Meanwhile, splitting both games for the Knights were goaltenders 2025 NHL Draft prospect Alexei Medvedev (15-4-1-0 record, 2.43 GAA, .925 SV% & 2 SO in 22 GP) and 20-year-old Austin Elliott (18-0-0-0 record, 2.30 GAA, .914 SV% & 2 SO in 18 GP), who both continued their strong 2024-25 campaigns. First, recently ranked the No.2 North American goalie by NHL Central Scouting at the NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft, Medvedev registered a 32-save shutout against the Guelph Storm on Friday. On Sunday, Elliott registered his 18th straight victory as he has yet to lose a start in the OHL since coming over last October from the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades, where he played the previous three seasons. This week, the Knights will be tested as they hit the road for games against the No.5-ranked Rangers, the Battalion, the Wolves, and the Greyhounds.
Games this week: @ Kitchener (Jan. 21), @ North Bay (Jan. 23), @ Sudbury (Jan. 24), @ Soo (Jan. 26)
2. Everett Silvertips (WHL): With a pair of victories over the last seven days to extend their point streak to 11 games (8-0-1-2), the Everett Silvertips (32-5-3-3) have moved up into second place in the CHL Top-10 Rankings. The latter matches their season-best rankings of the 2024-25 campaign, as they previously attained the No.2 spot back on December 10. The Silvertips continue to lead the CHL in goal differential with a +90. They are also the lone WHL club to have topped the 30-win plateau so far in 2024-25. Their five regulation losses are also the fewest of any team in the CHL this season. Over their two victories against Brandon (5-3) and Prince George (4-1), 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (29G-33A in 36 GP) led the way with five points (2G-3A). Bear has registered three consecutive outings with two points or more. He has also registered points in 18 of his last 19 games. Given his recent stretch of strong play, Bear has moved himself into seventh in scoring in the WHL with 62 points in 2024-25. Meanwhile, since joining Everett back in November, goaltender Raiden LeGall (7-1-0-2 record, 1.77 GAA, .932 SV% & 1 SO in 10 GP) has had an impact splitting time in the crease with Jesse Sanche (16-3-2-0 record, 2.24 GAA, .915 SV% & 1 SO in 22 GP). LeGall turned aside 19-of-20 shots in his lone start against the Cougars last week as he picked up his seventh victory during his 10th career WHL game. This week, the Silvertips will travel to Spokane and Wenatchee, before returning home to face the Thunderbirds and Americans. Fans can catch the CHL Top-10 showdown between the Silvertips and Chiefs live at 7:05 p.m. PT for free on the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV as part of the WHL’s Wednesday Night in The Dub program.
Games this week: @ Spokane (Jan. 22), @ Wenatchee (Jan. 24), vs. Seattle (Jan. 25), Tri-City (Jan. 26)
3. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): With two wins over three outings last week, the Moncton Wildcats (33-7-2-0) slipped a place to third in this week’s CHL’s Top-10 Rankings. The Wildcats impressively have ranked among the top three teams in these rankings in 13 of the last 14 weeks. They’ve also never fallen below fourth in these rankings this season – a testament to their consistent play so far in 2024-25. The Wildcats continue to be the lone club in the QMJHL to have won 30 games this season. Their +83 goal differential is the third-best mark in the CHL, trailing only the No.2-ranked Everett Silvertips (+90) and No.1-ranked London Knights (+87) in that regard. They are also the only QMJHL club to have won eight of their last 10 games. Once again, over the last week, it was 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (25G-35A in 37 GP) leading the way for the Wildcats. Desnoyers tallied a team-high four points (2G-2A) last week as he now sits second in the QMJHL with 60 points in 2024-25. Averaging 1.62 points per game, Desnoyers also ranks first in terms of scoring average in the QMJHL among players who have played at least 15 games this season. He also has registered a point in 15 straight games, the longest active point streak in the QMJHL. Meanwhile, impressively, forward Alex Mercier (20G-21A) is on a 14-game point streak of his own, having tallied 18 points (6G-12A) over that stretch. Given this recent stretch, Mercier has broken the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his QMJHL career and he seems poised to break other single-season career highs that he established for assists (28) and points (44) only a year ago. This week, Moncton will aim to improve on its 16-3-1-0 record at home when they will welcome the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and No. 4-ranked Rimouski Océanic to the Avenir Centre.
Games this week: vs. Acadie-Bathurst (Jan. 24), vs. Rimouski (Jan. 25)
4. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): Having extended their point streak to eight games (6-0-1-1) over the last week, the Rimouski Océanic climbed up a couple of spots as they find themselves in fourth this week. It marks the first time the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts are ranked in the top five since the holiday break. Thanks to their recent strong play, the Océanic now have the second-best point percentage (.720) of any club in the QMJHL. With two games in hand, Rimouski is also now just one point shy of the No.10-ranked Drummondville Voltigeurs for second place in the QMJHL. During the recent stretch of success, Rimouski has benefited from the strong play of many of its players including 19-year-old Maël St-Denis (13G-14A in 35 GP) who led the Océanic with four points (4G) over the last week. Over his last five games, St-Denis has recorded a goal in four contests, including a hat-trick in a 6-5 shootout victory against the Cape-Breton Eagles on Sunday. Meanwhile, Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford (13G-32A in 32 GP) registered a point in all three Océanic games last week to extend his point streak to five contests. Cataford now also ranks among the QMJHL’s top-20 scorers in 2024-25 with 45 points. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts also got a first glimpse last week of their newest star, Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko (15G-5A in 26 GP). Playing in his first three games as a member of the Océanic, Mateiko scored his first goal in a Rimouski jersey on Friday night, tallying the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes. This week, the Océanic will venture east into the Maritimes for games against the Sea Dogs, the No.3-ranked Wildcats, and the Islanders.
Games this week: @ Saint John (Jan. 24), @ Moncton (Jan. 25), @ Charlottetown (Jan. 26)
5. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Having split their games over the last week, the Kitchener Rangers (30-9-3-1) remain idle at No. 5 in this week’s rankings. Over their last 11 games dating back to December 20, the Rangers have won eight games, having only lost twice in regulation over that stretch (both times it came against the Brampton Steelheads). This week, during their lone 4-3 shootout victory over the Flint Firebirds, Colorado Avalanche prospect Christian Humphreys (2G-1A in 5 GP) led the Rangers in scoring with his first multi-point game (1G-1A) of his OHL career. Humphreys recently joined Kitchener having started the year in the NCAA with Michigan. Meanwhile, 20-year-old overage players Adrian Misaljevic (19G-23A in 43 GP) and Jackson Parsons (25-8-2-0 record, 2.16 GAA, .923 SV% & 4 SO in 35 GP) continued to be impactful players for Kitchener. Fresh of his experience at the inaugural Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game, Misaljevic was the lone Rangers to tally a point in both Kitchener games last week, as he continues to average a point per game. Although he suffered a loss to Brampton, Parsons was excellent against Flint – making 33 saves and denying a pair of shootout attempts to provide the Rangers with the victory. Parsons continues to lead the CHL with 25 wins, a 2.16 GAA, and four shutouts this season (min. 10 GP). This week, the Rangers face the No.1-ranked Knights in a top-five showdown tonight, before taking on the Attack and Otters this weekend.
Games this week: vs. London (Jan. 21), vs. Owen Sound (Jan. 24), @ Erie (Jan. 25)
6. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): Having lost consecutive games for the first time since November 17, the Windsor Spitfires (31-10-2-1) slipped a couple of places to No. 6 in this week’s rankings. Those two losses, however, came against some quality opponents in the No. 9-ranked Oshawa Generals (4-1) and the Barrie Colts (4-1) who were previously ranked in the Top 10. Dating back to November 30, Windsor’s only five losses come against teams either currently or previously ranked in the CHL Top 10. Despite their struggles over the last week, which saw Windsor only score a pair of goals, Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree (32G-44A in 43 GP) registered an assist in the Spitfires’ 4-1 loss to the Generals. As a result, Greentree shares the CHL scoring lead with 76 points in 2024-25 as he has at least one point in 12 of his last 13 contests (12G-14A over that stretch). Meanwhile, 2026 NHL Draft prospect and OHL rookie Ethan Belchetz (12G-17A in 35 GP) recorded a point during the Spits’ 4-1 defeat to the Colts. As of late, Belchetz seems to have found his groove as he has found the scoresheet eight times in his last 10 outings since coming back from the holiday break (3G-8A over that stretch). Belchetz sits fourth in scoring (29 points) among OHL rookies, while his 12 goals have him in a tie or third among that same group. This week, Windsor will start the weekend in Sarnia on Friday, before returning home to face the Steelheads on Sunday.
Games this week: @ Sarnia (Jan. 24), vs. Brampton (Jan. 26)
7. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): With five wins over their last seven games, including two victories in three games last week, the Spokane Chiefs (29-15-0-0) have climbed up three spots to find themselves at a season-best seventh this week. During their last seven outings dating back to January 4, Spokane has averaged 5.57 goals per game. Part of the latter has been driven by the Chiefs’ dynamic duo of Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton (20G-42A in 33 GP) and Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (31G-45A). Since Cristall arrived in Spokane from the Kelowna Rockets, Catton and Cristall have combined for 31 points (11G-20A) – all of which they produced over their last four games together. This recent offensive explosion from the duo has helped catapult Cristall to the top of the CHL’s scoring leaders, as he sits tied for first with 76 points in 2024-25. Averaging 2.30 points per game this season, no player in the CHL is logging a better scoring average than Cristall during the current campaign. Meanwhile, Catton is now firmly ranked among the WHL’s Top-10 scorers, sitting tied for seventh with 62 points in 2024-25. For his efforts, having racked up five goals (including a hat-trick against Kelowna) and three assists in three games last week, Catton was named Tempo WHL Player of the Week. This week, Spokane will aim to be the second WHL club to top the 30-win plateau during a pair of tough challenges at home against the No.2-ranked Everett Silvertips and the Medicine Hat Tigers. Fans can catch the CHL Top-10 showdown between the Silvertips and Chiefs live at 7:05 p.m. PT for free on the WHL’s YouTube channel and WHL Live on CHL TV as part of the WHL’s Wednesday Night in The Dub program.
Games this week: vs. Everett (Jan. 22), vs. Medicine Hat (Jan. 24)
8. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): Holding a 1-1-0-1 record last week, the Calgary Hitmen (25-12-3-2) remain in eighth for the second straight week in the CHL Top-10 Rankings. Although they dropped a pair of contests to the Medicine Hat Tigers, a team on the rise in the WHL, the Hitmen continue to hold the third-best point percentage of any club in the WHL. They trail only the No.2-ranked Everett Silvertips (.814) and No.7-ranked Spokane Chiefs (.659) in that regard. With their 4-1 victory over the Regina Pats on Sunday, Calgary has seven wins over their last nine games, having secured a point in eight of those contests. Although he saw his franchise record 23-game point streak come to a close this past Friday, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Ben Kindel (24G-44A in 41 GP) still led the team in scoring with four points during Hitmen’s three-game schedule last week. With 68 points in 41 games, Kindel sits fifth in WHL scoring this season. Ahead of him by just a single point is his Hitmen teammate, Oliver Tulk (25G-44A in 42 GP), who ranks fourth in WHL scoring thanks to his 69 points on the season. Last week, Tulk potted three goals over Saturday and Sunday as he now has found twine in four of his last six games (8G-3A over that stretch). Meanwhile, Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio (6G-16A in 23 GP) continues to get adjusted to his new club after being acquired from the Seattle Thunderbirds. Over the weekend, Mynio registered a point in consecutive games including scoring his first goal as a member of the Hitmen in their 4-1 victory over Regina. This week, Calgary will travel to Moose Jaw and Lethbridge, before returning to Scotiabank Saddledome to face Red Deer on Sunday.
Games this week: @ Moose Jaw (Jan. 22), @ Lethbridge (Jan. 25), vs. Red Deer (Jan. 26)
9. Oshawa Generals (OHL): Much like their WHL counterparts in Calgary, with a 1-1-1-0 record over the last seven days, the Oshawa Generals (26-14-3-1) continue to hold down their spot in ninth this week. Over their last 10 games, the Generals have earned a point in seven contests, including six victories as they continue to trail only the No.1-ranked London Knights, No. 5-ranked Kitchener Rangers, and No. 6-ranked Windsor Spitfires in the OHL standings. Over the last week, Winnipeg Jets prospect Colby Barlow (22G-17A in 41 GP) continued his strong play, leading all Oshawa scorers with five points (1G-4A) in three games. By registering a point in all three of the Generals’ games over the last seven days, Barlow has extended his point streak to seven games (4G-7A during that stretch). Barlow has also registered multi-point outings in three of his last four contests. Meanwhile, new addition Noah Powell (2G-3A in 5 GP) continued to find the scoresheet. The Philadelphia Flyers prospect now has points in four of his first five career OHL games. Additionally, goaltender Jacob Oster (19-11-2-1 record, 3.00 GAA, .901 SV% & 1 SO in 33 GP) has been heating up as of late. The reigning OHL goaltender of the year has won four of his last five starts, having given up two goals or less in each of those victories. The latter included turning aside 25-of-26 shots against the No.6-ranked Spitfires on Sunday during Oshawa’s 4-1 victory over Windsor. This week, the Generals will look to string a pair of wins together when they host the Petes and the Storm this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Peterborough (Jan. 24), vs. Guelph (Jan. 26)
10. Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL): With only one victory to go along with a pair of losses over the last seven days, the Drummondville Voltigeurs (28-11-2-2) continue their fall down the CHL Top-10 Rankings, as they now sit tenth this week. Since December 29, the Voltigeurs have struggled – losing six of their last 10 games (4-5-1-0). Their recent slide has allowed Rimouski to close within one point of second place in the QMJHL’s overall standings, while the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are inching closer to the Western Conference-leading Voltigeurs. Over its three games last week, both captain Luke Woodworth (13G-46A in 41 GP) and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Ethan Gauthier (17G-23A in 30 GP) led the Voltigeurs in scoring with three points. Woodworth actually tallied an assist in all three contests, as he leads the QMJHL with 46 helpers in 2024-25 – 10 more than the next closest skater in the QMJHL. Woodworth also continues to rank among the QMJHL’s top-five scoring leaders thanks to his 59 points. Meanwhile, Gauthier tallied two goals and an assist last week, which included a two-point effort (1G-1A) in the Voltigeurs’ lone win against the Mooseheads (4-1) on Friday. Dating back to November 20, Gauthier has been held off the scoresheet on just two occasions. This week, Gauthier and the Voltigeurs will aim to string some wins together when they travel to Val-d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda before coming back to the Centre Marcel Dionne to face Victoriaville on Sunday.
Games this week: @ Val-d’Or (Jan. 23), @ Rouyn-Noranda (Jan. 24), vs. Victoriaville (Jan. 26)
