Kitchener Rangers goaltender Dawson Carty made 26 saves in his first start since October 30th, helping the Rangers defeat the division rival London Knights 3-2 on home ice.
Fully recovered from a severe ankle sprain, Carty improved to 5-0-1-0 on the season as Gustaf Franzen had a goal and an assist while Adam Mascherin and Doug Blaisdell also got on the scoresheet.
The Kitchener victory came in one of seven games around the league on Tuesday.
KITCHENER 3 LONDON 2 – Nineteen year-old goaltender Dawson Carty made 26 saves in his first appearance since October 30th, helping lead the Rangers over the London Knights 3-2 on home ice. Gustaf Franzen had a goal and an assist while Adam Mascherin and Doug Blaisdell also scored to bring the Rangers to within one point of London in the Midwest Division. Owen MacDonald and Jack Hidi scored for the Knights who fell to 1-2 against the Rangers this season.

HAMILTON 3 FLINT 2 OT – The Hamilton Bulldogs sent 55 shots the way of Brent Moran, with Trent Fox burying the final one 2:24 into overtime to give the Dogs a 3-2 road victory over the Flint Firebirds. Moran managed to turn aside 52 shots, being beaten twice by Fox while Matthew Strome added the other Hamilton goal. Flint responded with markers from Will Bitten and Cullen Mercer. Hamilton’s third straight win puts the Bulldogs in a tie for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference with Oshawa to begin the second half.

ERIE 2 GUELPH 1 OT – Kyle Maksimovich scored 41 seconds into overtime to give the Erie Otters a 2-1 victory in Guelph. The Storm managed to come away with a point thanks to 35 saves from goaltender Michael Giugovaz who earned first star honours. Erie goaltender Devin Williams was also up to the task, turning aside 29 of the 30 shots he faced. Jake Marchment also scored for Erie while Guelph’s James McEwan scored his 12th goal of the season. The Otters currently hold a six point lead in the Midwest Division.

OTTAWA 5 KINGSTON 2 – The Ottawa 67’s struck back at the Kingston Frontenacs on Tuesday, avenging a pair of recent losses as overage centreman Sam Studnicka led the way with two goals and an assist. Evan de Haan and Artur Tyanulin each had two assists while Jeremiah Addison, Ben Fanjoy and Austen Keating also scored. Ryan Cranford had a goal and an assist while Lucas Peressini made 36 saves for the Frontenacs who were outshot 41-24.

PETERBOROUGH 5 MISSISSAUGA 1 – Rookie defenceman Nick Grima scored his first OHL goal and added an assist to help lead the Peterborough Petes over Mississauga 5-1. Veteran centreman Hunter Garlent had two goals and an assist for the Petes while Adam Timleck and Logan DeNoble also scored. Rookie defenceman Nicolas Hague scored the lone goal for Mississauga in the loss.

OWEN SOUND 4 NORTH BAY 2 – Petrus Palmu scored twice while rookie centreman Matthew Struthers had a goal and an assist as the Owen Sound Attack put an end to North Bay’s five game winning streak with a 4-2 victory. Winger Jacob Busch also had a goal and an assist and goaltender Daniel Dekoning made 33 saves to give the Atack their third straight victory. North Bay netminder Jake Smith made 37 saves while goals came from Kyle Potts and Mike Baird.

NIAGARA 3 SUDBURY 1 – Johnny Corneil scored in the second and third periods to lead the Niagara IceDogs over Sudbury 3-1. Seventeen year-old goaltender Stephen Dhillon made 36 saves while forward Jordan Maletta scored his 18th goal of the season. Michael Pezzetta provided Sudbury’s only goal and Troy Timpano made 36 saves for his club. The IceDogs trail first place Barrie in the Central Division by two points.
