Five present and future OHL players have been invited to USA Hockey's Hlinka Gretzky Cup Selection Camp, taking place July 23-27 at TRIA Rink in St. Paul, Minn.

The camp will determine the 23-player United States roster that will compete at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scheduled for Aug. 3-8 in Edmonton, Alta. Team USA enters the tournament as the defending champion after capturing gold in 2025.

The OHL contingent includes Flint Firebirds goaltender Mason Courville, Peterborough Petes forward Gerry DiCunzolo, Saginaw Spirit forward Sawyer Schmidt and Kingston Frontenacs forward Nolan Snyder, along with incoming Windsor Spitfires forward Ty Bergeron.

Although USA Hockey lists Bergeron with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, the 17-year-old signed with the Spitfires earlier this summer after recording 29 points (15-14-29) in 53 USHL games during the 2025-26 season.

Courville appeared in 20 games with the Firebirds as a rookie in 2025-26, posting a 3.26 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

DiCunzolo enjoyed a productive first OHL season with the Petes, recording 23 goals and 20 assists for 43 points in 67 games.

Schmidt produced 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points in 64 games with the Saginaw Spirit during his rookie campaign, while Snyder registered 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points in 65 games with the Kingston Frontenacs.

The United States will announce its final roster following selection camp before travelling to Edmonton, where it will face Canada, Czechia, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Four OHL players have been named to Slovakia's National Junior Team summer camp roster ahead of preparations for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Sudbury Wolves forwards Adam Nemec and Ján Chovan are joined by incoming OHL imports Michal Svrcek of the Windsor Spitfires and Lucian Bernát of the Owen Sound Attack among the 31 players invited to Slovakia's five-day camp in Piešťany from July 20-24.

The camp marks the beginning of Slovakia's preparations for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship and will include two exhibition games against the country's Under-18 National Team as it readies for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Nemec returns after a strong finish to the 2025-26 season, joining the Sudbury Wolves midway through the campaign and producing 35 points (14-21-35) in 31 regular season games. The 2026 third-round Ottawa Senators draft pick also represented Slovakia at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording five points in five games.

Chovan also earns a spot after an impressive first OHL season in Sudbury. Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2025 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-3 forward recorded 55 points (28-27-55) in 60 games with the Wolves while adding two goals in four playoff contests. He represented Slovakia at both the 2025 and 2026 World Junior Championships.

Svrcek, who signed with the Windsor Spitfires in June after being selected in the 2025 CHL Import Draft, joins the camp following a season that included time in Sweden's SHL with Brynäs IF. A Detroit Red Wings prospect, he also suited up for Slovakia at the 2026 World Junior Championship.

Bernát, who recently signed with the Owen Sound Attack after being selected in the 2025 CHL Import Draft, rounds out the OHL contingent. The 6-foot-4 winger recorded 31 points (15-16-31) with Tappara's U20 club in Finland last season while representing Slovakia at the 2026 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.

Slovakia opens camp on July 20 before playing a pair of exhibition games against its Under-18 National Team. The country's National Junior Team will continue preparations throughout the summer ahead of the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship in Alberta.

BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads announced the signing of their 7th overall pick in this year’s 2026 CHL Import Draft, goaltender Oskari Ahmajarvi, to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Ahmajarvi, a native of Nurmijärvi, Finland, became the first goaltender selected by the Brampton Steelheads in the 2026 CHL Import Draft when the club chose him 7th overall in the first round. The 6-foot, 181-pound netminder was the first goaltender taken in the draft after an impressive season with Keikko-Espoo in the U20 SM-Sarja league, where he posted a 2.34 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 29 appearances. Ahmajärvi has also represented Finland on the international stage on multiple occasions at the U16, U17 and U18 levels.

Director of Goaltending, David Shantz, had this to say about Oskari, “Oskari is a highly competitive, athletic goaltender with a strong track record of results. His Finnish U20 SM-Sarja championship in Keikko-Espoo last season, coupled with his international body of work provides a solid foundation for him to transition and earn success at the OHL level. Oskari will provide our team with a strong presence heading into next season as we seek to take a meaningful step forward as a group.”

Kingston, ON - The Kingston Frontenacs and General Manager Kory Cooper are happy to announce that defenceman Gavin Godick has signed his OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the club.

Godick was selected by the Frontenacs with the 47th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. Godick comes from the Don Mills Flyers U16 AAA program where he notched 2 goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 28 games. The 6-foot, 182 lbs. right-shot defenceman from Thunder Bay, ON starred in five OHL Cup games for Don Mills collecting 2 goals and 2 assists.

"Gavin is a right defenceman that has a really good feel with the puck," said Frontenacs General Manager Kory Cooper. "He is very shifty and moves well laterally in the offensive zone and can open up a lot of shooting and passing lanes. On the defensive side of the puck, he defends hard and is tough to beat in one-on-one situations, with his mobility. We're happy to welcome Gavin and his family to the hockey club, and continue his development”.

Godick joins three other members of the Frontenacs' 2026 draft class in signing their OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement; joining first round pick Logan Prud'homme and second rounder choices Roman Vanacker and Shane Roche. Gavin will wear number 72 when he puts the Frontenacs jersey on this fall.

"I'm incredibly excited and grateful to officially sign with the Kingston Frontenacs," said Godick. "It's an amazing organization with a great reputation, and I'm thankful for the opportunity. I can't wait to get started and do whatever I can to help the team succeed."
